General Information

This is not meant to replace the resource on the college’s website, but just a quick list of items that we faculty may deal with. I will avoid putting links here, as they can change. However, with this page as a guide you should be able to search key terms on the college’s website.

Help

In addition to the search bar on the college’s website here are other sources of help on key words to search (in bold)

  • The Faculty Center is a great resource for help with setting up features in Canvas, making instructional video, etc…
    • Keep in mind there are great resources in Canvas that can be found by clicking on the Help button near the bottom-left
    • Also, Canvas now has a briefcase icon near the bottom-left for faculty resources

Drops

  • Drop no-shows by census date (using MySite)
    • The census date will appear on your class roster in MySite
    • For online classes give students a task to compete prior to census
    • You are required to drop no-show students by census and you sign off that you did this when you submit grades

Your Absence

  • Better than cancelling class–trade a day with another faculty
    • This is better for you because you do not lose a sick day and better for the students because they do not lose class time (also there is a minimum amount of hours a class must meet per semester for student to receive credit)
    • To email all faculty look for a recent email from the went out to all, retitle it, and reply all
    • Once you find a replacement faculty, let the AMPD office know
  • If you do not trade days with another faculty
    • Report your absence in Workday (typically found at the bottom of the college’s website or use search bar)
    • Also notify the AMPD office

Troubled Students, Reporting, and Disabled Students

  • Student Discipline
    • Submit a Discipline Report
  • Care Report
    • This choice is also found by searching Discipline Report.
    • Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to use the CARE form to report noticeable distress before they lead to deeper issues, or behavior that may be impacting a student’s academic success.
  • Mandatory reporting (Title IX)
    • Title IX is a federal law that protects you from sexual harassment, including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to report sexual and gender-based harassment.
  • Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS)
    • The Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) program provides support services, specialized instruction, and authorizes educational accommodations for students with disabilities so that they can participate fully and benefit equitably in their college experience.
